CalcElf Data Use and Collection Statement

Effective date:October 16, 2026
CalcElf Data Use and Collection Statement12345678910

1. What this statement covers

This statement describes what CalcElf collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and who receives it. It supplements our Privacy Notice and our Terms of Service. Where this statement sets out a specific commitment, that commitment governs; the Privacy Notice continues to govern the notice itself.

2. What we do not collect

We do not request or store your gender; your home address, city or postal code; your precise location; your date of birth; or your school name, national identity number or telephone number. Our application code does not read your device location: no geographic request header is read anywhere in our server code, and our site instructs browsers to disable geolocation for the whole origin.

3. Learning stage, not age

We do not ask for your date of birth. You may optionally tell us a broad learning stage, such as primary or middle school. We use it only to adapt explanation depth, typography and visual density. The option defaults to “prefer not to say”, so if you leave it untouched we do not collect it.

4. We do not train AI models on your content

We do not use your content to train our own AI models. We operate no training pipeline: submitted problems are aggregated for coverage statistics and problem-type archiving, not for model training. To generate an answer, your problem content, your typed answers and any voice input converted to text are sent to third-party model providers for processing. How each provider handles those inputs is governed by that provider’s own published policies, and we make no promise on their behalf.

5. How long we keep things

Images are kept for 15 days and then deleted. Problem text is kept for 90 days, after which the link to your account is removed. We retain a de-identified problem-type archive. Deletion means we no longer serve the content; an image viewed before deletion may remain in a browser or content-delivery cache until that cache expires, and we align the object cache lifetime to the retention window for this reason.

6. Your IP address

We do not store your raw IP address. For abuse prevention and rate limiting we store only a one-way cryptographic hash, and that hash includes the current date, so the same person produces a different value on different days and cannot be correlated across days.

7. Who receives data, and why

When a page loads, your browser contacts our analytics provider, our script delivery networks and our human-verification provider; those requests carry your IP address, user agent and referrer, as any web request does. Our servers separately contact our model providers, our voice transcription provider, our payment processor, our email provider, our database and storage provider, a search-engine indexing service, and our hosting platform. We do not operate third-party error monitoring, we do not run advertising networks, and we do not embed social plugins.

8. Consent, and what the checkboxes mean

Before any account action or problem submission you are shown our notices and asked for explicit acknowledgement. Three separate confirmations are required and each is recorded separately: that you have read the Privacy Notice; parental or guardian consent where the learner is a minor; and that you have read this Data Use and Collection Statement. Reading a notice and ticking a box does not by itself constitute legally required verifiable parental consent, and where the law requires that, we use a parent or guardian account-holder model and take additional steps as required.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. Write to privacy@calcelf.com and we will respond. We may verify the requester before acting, especially where a child’s information is involved. At present there is no self-service account deletion endpoint; deletion requests are handled by email.

10. Changes, contact and status

We may update this statement and will publish a new effective date.
